To give you an idea of some of the possibilities we have compiled
a selection of different successful planting combinations into 6
broad themes. These are available to buy in 3 different sizes. Each
collection comes with a suggested planting layout, and advice about
care and cultivation. Plants chosen will vary from season to season
and according to availability. If you have specific likes or dislikes
please let us know.
1 WOODLAND/NATURAL COLLECTION

Woodland or shade tolerant plants that prefer damp, shady areas,
often under trees. Delicate and subtle plantings, with filmy
foliage such as Tree ferns and ferns, Japanese maples.

2 WINTER GARDEN COLLECTION |
|
Plants that flower or have other features
in the winter or early spring, such as berries, attractive bark
or winter leaf colour. These include Viburnums in variety, Sarcococca
(Xmas box), Hellebores etc. Mostly suited to shady areas. A
good solution to give interest in front gardens, where winter
scented flowers can be easily appreciated.

3 TROPICAL/EXOTIC COLLECTION |
|
Planting with impact: plants with bold,
architectural foliage such as hardy Palms, Bamboos, and Phormiums.
Intended to give a bold evergreen structure for year round interest.
For open areas, sunny or partially shaded.

4 DRY MEDITERRANEAN HERB COLLECTION |
|
Plants with silvery foliage for dry, sunny areas, with free
draining soil. Mainly evergreen structure plants with summer
interest, including Olives, Magnolia grandiflora, lavender,
rosemary and other silvery herbs with aromatic flowers and foliage.
Note: some of these plants are only
hardy in mild areas and may need winter protection. If in
doubt, please ask.
Note: some herbs are short-lived or are affected by winter
wet.

5 SUMMER FLOWER GARDEN |
|
A selection of summer flowering plants
for sunny areas with the emphasis on low maintenance, easy to
care for planting, yet with much of the appeal of traditional
English garden plants. These include shrub roses, Hydrangea
Annabelle, Lavender.

6 SPRING FLOWER GARDEN |
|
A selection of spring or early summer
flowering plants for partial shade with the emphasis on low
maintenance, easy to care for planting. These include early
flowering shrub rose Canarybird, Ceanothus, Magnolia, Dicentra
spectabilis.

The Collections come in 3 different sizes

Some companies offer very cheap plants
by mail order, which can seem fantastic value. However, these
are often tiny plants, too small to successfully be planted
out, and therefore often fail to establish. We only supply plants
of equivalent size to those in a garden centre, very competitively
priced.
