Gabion Garden
A strong connection between interior and exterior spaces leads from this small Victorian cottage to a lounging seat at the rear.
The formal layout provides space for entertaining, eating and storage in a small garden; carefully integrating features to make best use of the space.
Contrasts of gabion cages, quarried stone, and chunky oak timbers provide an unusual palette of materials that complement the interior finishes: slate fill in the gabions matches the kitchen floor; limestone slabs follow the bond of the interior flooring whilst providing a lighter contrast.
Construction is porous and minimal cement is used in the process.
